350 Life Jackets Donated by the Nautical Safety Foundation
Washington County Parks has received a generous donation of 350 life jackets from the Nautical Safety Foundation, reinforcing the county’s commitment to water safety at Scoggins Valley Park/Henry Hagg Lake. These life jackets will be distributed across the park’s 15 life jacket loaner stations, ensuring visitors have access to safety gear while recreating at the lake.
A popular destination for boating, fishing, kayaking and paddleboarding, every developed recreation area at the lake features strategically placed life jacket loaner stations allowing visitors to borrow a life jacket and reduce water-related accidents. The recent donation from the Nautical Safety Foundation will replenish and expand these resources.
“We are thrilled to be a recipient of the Nautical Safety Foundation’s grant this year and will be replenishing life jackets around the park as we approach peak season,” says Peyton Ellis, Parks Superintendent. “Water safety is a top priority at the park, and we are grateful to our community partners for supporting this effort.”
Washington County Parks staff continue to emphasize the importance of water safety, reminding visitors always to wear a life jacket, stay within designated swimming areas, and be mindful of changing water conditions.
