Scoggins Valley Park is owned by the U.S. Bureau of Reclamation and operated by Washington County Parks. The 2,500-acre park features two boat-launching facilities, over 14 miles of multi-use trails, an 18-hole disc golf course, and numerous picnic areas. The…

It might be cold and rainy, but there's plenty to explore at Scoggins Valley Park. Winter is a quieter time at the lake, and on any given day you will find anglers casting from the shoreline (water levels are on the rise!) and drifting peacefully on the glassy waters. Bikers and hikers can explore the trails that loop the lake, or ride on designated paved bike lane. With the rains, the creeks that feed into the lake are gushing, and plenty of "mini waterfalls" can be spotted on the trail, along with herons, hawks, and ducks. Our covered picnic areas provide a scenic lunch spot, and our disc…

New features and amenities include: • Rehabilitated the tennis court • New shade structure and bleacher seating • New drinking fountain • New planter beds (that drink up…
Washington County Sheriff Office Marine Patrol: Working to keep you safe Washington County Parks has a long-standing partnership with the Marine Patrol, a Sheriff’s Patrol Division special team. With 2 full-time positions, and nearly a dozen part-time or fill-in positions, the Marine Patrol promotes safety on shore and on the water. Among the many duties they perform, deputies ensure that each vessel contains life jackets, fire extinguishers, and sound devices. Deputies enforce safe boating practices, proper use of no-wake zones, registrations, and licenses. They also partner with Park…
Our new, user-friendly fee machines provide Hagg Lake visitors more options and convenience! Day ($7) parking passes are available for purchase at all the machines using a card. The middle fee booth lane also accepts cash payments. To purchase annual ($60) and discount passes (seniors and veterans - $5 and $40), visitors can stop by the Park Office…
Q & A with Park Ranger Jared Clough Washington County strives to be an employer of choice. What made you choose to work for Washington County? I had been a Washington County employee for close to 5 years working for Facilities & Parks Division so it was a natural choice to move into the full-time Ranger position. In my time with Washington County I've built strong connections with the public, knowing many of our regular patrons by name. The Parks team makes coming to work each day a really great experience too! How did you feel the first time you put on the ranger uniform…
Q & A with Groundskeeper Luke Hill Since coming on board, you have made numerous improvements to Metzger Park. For which projects are you the most proud? I come from a golf course background, so I am the most proud of taking Metzger Park from a blackberry and ivy infested park to an open and enjoyable place to visit. I, with the help of all the other groundskeepers, have made Metzger Park a much more appealing destination for the public. Washington County strives to be an employer of choice. What made you choose to work for Washington County? I have always had an interest in…
We’re getting a new CXT next week over at Scoggins Creek! This will be our fourth restroom addition to the park with the other three being stationed at: Elks Recreation Area, Dam Overlook, and C-Ramp North. Getting the new bathrooms built in lieu of the porta-potties is a big step in the right direction for park visitors.
